Colorado resident Kelly Booker’s 9 year old Shih Tzu named Lilly went missing from his backyard on July 4th, 2011. Booker could only speculate if she was stolen or somehow escaped (perhaps scared off from the fireworks that were going off at the time).
In May 20015, 4 years later, Lilly was found in Elgin, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. That’s approximately 1000 miles and a 14 hour drive. Lilly’s microchip identified her as belonging to Booker. According to the organization that found Lilly — a volunteer pet rescue facility known as Almost Home Foundation — she was suffering from poor health and lack of care.
Lilly was nursed back to her health and her owner was notified.
Booker and his his 10-year-old son were finally able to reunite with Lilly at the Denver International Airport. Lilly immediately recognized her long-lost owners, and the three had a joyful reunion. See the happy results below.
